ESL Training Day
Where: PTC Sydney: 77 Shaftesbury Rd, Burwood
When: 9.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
Why: Like never before, people in Australia need to lean English. With so many people coming from so many parts of the non-English-speaking world, there is a huge need to help people understand their new land and find their place within it.
The Ministry and Mission Committee is striving to establish church-based English classes and is offering a training day for that purpose. It will be led by our ESL Co-ordinator, Judy Rowlands who has years of experience teaching this subject at TAFE. Judy will be assisted by Fiona Oates, an experienced ESL practitioner.

Cross-Cultural Ministry Advisory Panel (CCMAP)
Mike leads a Cross-Cultural Ministry Advisory Panel to identify and respond to the most significant CCM needs within the Church. Members of this panel are drawn from congregations whose members do not have an English-speaking background. Those members cover all major ethnic groups within the Presbyterian Church in NSW.
Currently, the primary focus of the CCMAP is on the development of ministries to Mandarin-speaking people.
Ministry Across Cultural Horizons
No culture is without its blinkers. A degree of cultural blindness affects us all and makes it had to see beyond our own too-limited horizons.
To address that challenge, Mike Wilson runs a course to raise awareness of key aspects of ministry where cultural adjustments need to be made. The most recent of these was held in April 2010. Contact Mike for details of future courses.
