The Ministry & Mission Committee is always on the lookout for people who love the Lord Jesus Christ and who want to pastor his people. If you have a track record of commitment to the cause of Christ and his church, good leadership skills, the ability to teach the Bible relevantly in a range of situations, enjoy good health and understand and embrace the way Presbyterian churches are governed, perhaps God is wanting you to talk to us about serving him in one of our congregations. Both men and women are being employed in congregations for a variety of functions, but only men will be considered for appointment as either ministers or home missionaries.
Ministers are men who have undertaken a course of training determined by the Church to equip them for overall care and leadership of one or more congregations.
Home missionaries are men who have either undertaken at least one year of training through an acceptable college or, through personal study and experience have been considered capable, and who are then appointed to congregational leadership under the supervision of a minister.
Deaconesses are women who have undertaken a course of training determined by the Church to equip them for various ministries within congregations. These ministries often focus on teaching the Bible to women and children, running training programmes within congregations, or spearheading the work of pastoral care. (Deaconesses may also work in situations not connected to congregations, e.g. schools and hospitals.)
Gospel workers are men or women who have not completed a formal course of training but who have been engaged by congregations to serve in a wide array of ministries.
If you would like more information on any of these ministry options, please contact John Irvin.

Ministry Commencement Service – home missionary
The commencement of a new ministry should be marked by an expression of humble dependence on God and joyful anticipation of his blessings. This is an example of a service of introduction of a home missionary.
Quarterly Reports are required from all home missionaries on 31 January, 30 April, 31 July and 30 November each year.
All appointees of the Ministry and Mission Committee are required to arrange their leave through the Committee. This Leave Application Form will help us to help you.
